Glamglow: Youthmud

Today I used the youthmud from glamglow for the first time. Immediate cooling and tightening feeling. I applied it after I cleansed my face and left it on for 10 minutes. My pores on my nose are smaller and my skin did appear brighter just after one use. Was it amazing? ehhh. I'm not crazy about it.

Chloroplasma by Perricone MD
Chloroplasma by Perricone MD is the mask I use most. During the warmer months my skin is a combination skin type. When its hot out my skin is oily in my T-zone, and normal else where. The pores in my nose get congested. I also have some dark spots on my cheeks that need brightening. This mask helps with clearing and tightening up my pores. My skin looks radiant after using this mask. I apply a thin layer on clean skin and leave on for 5-10 minutes, then remove with warm towel.

Wedding makeup

Yesterday I had the pleasure to witness a dear friend's wedding! He has been my friend for years and watching him marry the love of his life, his best friend was truly a blessing. I was wearing a fit and flare white dress with black leather sides. The contrast made a bold statement so decided to go light on my makeup. I started off with a Dior primer. This time I substituted my usual CC cream for a G50 cream foundation from CoverFx. It's creamy but lightweight and has medium to full coverage. I absolutely love this foundation, it blends in perfectly and I needed a bit more for a night out. On my eyes I used a neutral palette from NYX. Finally I topped it all off with on of my favorite mascara's, "They're Real" by Benefit. I had a blast at the wedding!

The simple joy of being

More than usual we are quick to analyze our lives and feel unimpressed. That doesn’t mean you have a less than an interesting life. It means there’s a part of you yearning for more. Constant battles of comparison with others leave us feeling drained and worthless. We look at what we don't have more than what we do. It's crucial that you realize that at this very moment in life you are where you are meant to be. Everything and everyone in your life is there for a reason. We are fully capable of much more than we can imagine at any moment. Pay attention to the little part of you that keeps you going, to the experiences that have shaped you, and to what you truly love. When you do this; your values become clearer and we are able to say I am enough and believe it. At this very moment you are where you’re supposed to be. Be grateful for what you have, fight for what you want, notice what you can’t allow and change it. Don’t ever stop evolving into a better you.

How to get rid of blackheads

Blackheads are stubborn and difficult to remove. They are pores clogged with oil, dead skin and grime. They show up mostly on our noses, but can appear any where else, even in ears. You can go to your esthetician for extractions. Many people rather not. Extractions can be painful, costly and if not done correctly can irritate he skin and cause hyperpigmentation. I have tried nose strips, extractions, and peels. Nothing worked as good as this easy and simple remedy for blackheads did. To effectively remove your blackheads and keep them from coming back do this once a week. Apply this on clean skin. All you need is fresh lemon juice and cinnamon. Mix the lemon juice with powered cinnamon. Apply on your blackheads and white heads on your nose. Remove after 5 minutes. The cinnamon will make your nose red, especially if you have sensitive skin. You may need to leave it on for longer depending on how clogged your pores on your nose are. Remember to keep them from coming back you must to be consistent. I recommend doing this once to two times a week.

Alphabet Creams

I call it the "alphabet creams". Yet another beauty innovation originating from Asia. BB creams were all the rage a few years ago. Now there's cc creams and dd creams. They offer many different benefits other than coverage. I'm currently using a cc cream by Peter Thomas Roth on a daily basis. Its my current must have. You can find these beauty must haves at sephora of course. They have it all.

BB CREAM- Beauty Balm
BB creams are like a lighter version of foundations. They have very little skincare benefits. It primes, controls shine, and provides coverage. It can also be layered with foundation. If you have dry skin I suggest using a moisturizer prior to applying. 

CC CREAM- Color Correcting
CC creams are for evening out skin tone, making skin brighter, and firming. It also provides protection against free radicals and from the sun’s harmful rays.The consistency is light and mousse like. It can be used with foundation for added coverage, as a treatment and to prime the skin. 

DD CREAM- Dynamic Do All
DD creams cover it all. it addresses dark marks, age spots, and sun damage. It brightens and evens out skin tone. For the oiler skin types it will mattify, minimize pores, and even soothe breakouts. If you are more on the dry side DD creams will hydrate and nourish. It has something for every skin type.

Jurlique rosewater mist

This Rosewater mist from Jurlique is everything. Don't get it mistaken as a toner. This mist is to sooth and hydrate. It also contains natural antioxidants, aloe, and glycerin. Sensitive skin? No problem. The aloe and rose will help calm it. I recommend this to those who have normal to combination skin. You can also use it to set makeup to achieve a nice dewy finish. Has a natural rose scent. I spray it on my skin daily. This is a must have.

Simple skincare

As a skincare consultant I get a lot of questions about products and what people should be using. Some people use all the bells and whistles when it comes to their skin, others don't even wear moisturizer. Makes me cringe. We all have different skin types and what works for me may not work for you. We should all tailor our skin care routine to our specific type of skin. One simple step I believe everyone should follow is to CLEANSE the skin daily. This will remove any oil, dirt, makeup, or any sweat that has accumulated throughout the day. Which type of cleanser is a whole other topic that I will blog about soon. Next step should be to MOISTURIZE. It's important for healthy skin to be hydrated and moisturized. Dry skin causes lines, cracks, and no body wants that. Remember that hydrated means keeping our insides hydrated by drinking water and eating foods rich in water. Dry skin also causes premature aging. Yuck! If you want to keep your skin looking and feeling good and you don't have a lot of time or money just follow these simple steps.

Turmeric is a versatile plant. Mostly known for use in curry. I was introduced to turmeric a few years ago by my mother. She started using it in her cooking. It would tint her jasmine rice such a rich color. It has a warm and mild bitter taste, and blended well with other spices and herbs. It quickly became one of my mostly used spices. One of my favorite uses is mixing the spice in my body lotion when I wanted a nice subtle glow. I also make tea with it when I have a headache or cramps. I did my research on it and learned there are so many other uses for this plant. It's a must have spice in my pantry.

Drink up!

Drinking water is essential to our bodies. It is essential for good health. Without water our bodies cannot function properly. I haven't always been a avid water drinker. As I got older, I started to educate myself on what good health is. Water was a major component. I rarely get headaches but when I do, I sip on water, and poof headache gone, no pill needed. I just feel so much better if I'm hydrated. First thing I do when I wake up is drink 16 ounces of water, a bottle. Really gets me going and helps my mood. Before every meal I make it a point to drink water. It helps digestion and I feel faster, so I won't over eat. I get a lot of compliments on my skin, I have water to thank for that. Water will help flush out toxins and keep your skin glowing. Hydrated skin is the best type of skin. I drink 4 bottles of water daily. I feel that is best for my body. not sure how much you should drink? Listen to your body. If your constipated, have headaches, feel sluggish or have dull skin, chances are you are low on H2o. Sometimes I must admit drinking water is the last thing on my mind, but as my day goes on I stop and think, my day wouldn't be going like this if I have had drank water. I have made it a habit to always have a water bottle with me, and refill it as my day goes on. Make it a habit to drink water and you'll notice the difference a hydrated body can make. Stay hydrated!
